wahoo i just finished talking to my baby so I can continue the post fweee
as i was trying to say last night, the answer to the riddle is SUPPOSED to be one.
haha i think thats cause once you subtact 5 from 25, it'll be 20, so you can't subtract 5 from 25 anymore cos in the second time you'll be subtracting 5 from 20
something like that.
BUT HECK. OBS! hahaha. I kinda miss it. yet I kinda feel good that I left it?
that type of mixed feeling that everyone's getting nowadays..EMO! haha. is emo a clash of feelings? or is it that depressed feeling that overwhelms you? or is it some fashion thing that makes u look cool? or is it that emotion you get when you're all down and out, feeling like giving up?
IONO. HECK :D
my sunburns are peeling..they're red and painful
ha but I'm back with my family and friends.
WORTH IT :D
the heat rashes are there, but everyone else got it to..so yup.
calamine i think. its healing.
as time passes, all things heal.
physical, emotional, mental, psychological pain.
they say some scars are permanent; they can't be healed.
but trust me! those sad, emo people out there who are down and out.
give everything time.
with time, things do heal (:
anw back to obs
its not a hideout la
i found out its not some reclusive, obscure part of singapore where you get to slack and forget all your worries
its just this real tiring, almost-impossibly-difficult-to-go-on camp that trains your mental and physical strength?
uhuh. around there
you don't get to hide from your worries!
you learn to deal with them.
that's why I'm so grateful to samuel the instructor
i was in livingstone watch.
heh and he taught me many things..
from camping knowledge to lifeskills to appreciating people in life.
he doesn't show care and concern..
he's strict and fierce and damm suan and all
but ultimately, everytime he does something, he has his reasons..he explains to us
and in times of adversity or emergency, he doesn't help us - he just explains how to solve the problem
cos he doesn't even tell us how to solve the problem, unlike the other watches where instructors will teach step-by-step what to do
for samuel, he'll just give u this general picture
and its from there that we TRULY learn something
from there that REAL men will mature from
he also teachers japanese swordsmanship
and a 3rd sergeant in the SAF teaching recruits
thats like REALLY high up there o.0
yeahh..he shared MILLIONS of quotes. and I mean literally millions.
thats what I mean when i say he gives the general picture.
and one quote that struck me was something like:
"I won't follow a man who has never made a mistake in his life to battle;
rather I'd gladly follow a man who has made every mistake in his life to battle.
Young gentleman, you only learn from making mistakes. Experential learning. Only by making mistakes will you know how to react to them, know how to deal and cope with them. If you have never made a mistake in your life, you will not know how to solve problems when times of adversity come."
haha. pretty general isn't it? his standard of english is HIGHEST in the camp! i swear.
cheem cheem here, cheem cheem there.
and his quotes are literal somtimes..yet very inspiring!
many many quotes..
"The same sun that melts the wax, harderns the clay.
Always remember, young gentleman, that the same thing that heals you could break you. One man's meat is another man's poison. Or, for those of you who understand:
The same wind that lifts the girl's skirt blows sand into your eyes."
LOLOL. I think he's the most funny instructor of them all when coming to describing things. but when it comes to activities, he's the most demanding.
We were the last watch to leave the camp cos his packing standards were very high.
We were the last watch to finish pitching the tents - at 10.30pm at night. the other watches finished their tents as early as 6 - which meant that while everyone was snoring away, we were busy hammering at those pegs in the dark.
We were the only watch who got scammed - while rowing out in the sea, he tricked us into taking the longest path to reach Camp 1. haha cos our boat was way ahead of the others..too much strong people xD. but who cares after the detour we still owned (:
We were the only watch who starved on the fourth day - lack of rations.
We were the only watch with 9 bagpacks..the lowest among the rest of the watches. Everything was stuffed into 9 bagpacks..sam originally wanted 8. but yeah he gave some allowance. There were 15 people in the group, so bagpacks were double the weight of other groups.
We were the only watch that helped half of the other watches dock their boats. haha which is like REAL tough. hauling up this 100kg beast onto land, out of the water, and pulling the parking thing into dock.
livingstone ftw!
but once again I thank sam..for all those life lessons
gosh my baby is back (;
